Photoshoot Fun

I’ve been working at Pink Princess for 3 years now and have learned a lot of new things. Like how to create a file for a new item, how to upload it onto the web site, talk to different vendors, purchase items , fulfill orders, the list goes on and on.  The point is, these are all things you, as a customer, don’t get to see.  We’re kind of just “backstage” of the whole Pink Princess web site. All you see as a customer are the dresses, pictures, testimonies, and all the other fun things we have on there, not really thinking about how long it may take us to put it up for you to see. I didn’t know how to take a picture of an item until I started working at Pink Princess. I just thought we already had them in different files and just had to cut and paste it somewhere.  I was WAY off.  It’s not just about clicking a button. It involves, steaming the item, placing it on the mannequin, making sure it’s straight, making sure you have the right amount of light, button every button, zip every zipper, tie ever bow, *phew* AND THEN take the picture. Possibly repeat the same process if the same dress comes in different colors. Once that’s done, comes the editing which is another process. Cropping, editing, shading, minimizing, expanding, making sure the picture tone matches the color of the actual dress, it’s another long process. Which again, you, as a customer don’t get to see. This time around, I get to take a step back and see how a REAL professional gets the job done.  We’re going to have a photo shoot on July 24, Saturday at a local park in the area.  I’m really excited to see how the photographer, Jeremy Chou Photoworks,  makes it all happen so we can have higher quality pictures that we can have for our upcoming new and improved Pink Princess web site.  We’ve selected the cutest 11 kids in different ages to model some of our New Arrivals, Boys Formal, Baptism and Christening and Flower Girl Dresses. It should be a fun day for everybody involved, even if it means having to be out in the California sun all day.  We’re working on SO many new projects and have TONS of great ideas on how to improve Pink Princess. I’m glad I get the opportunity to learn new things as we go along and be able to grow with the company as well.

My favorite style this month is D3160 the 3-Tier Chiffon Sequence Dress, in all 3 colors, Turquoise, Off-White and Yellow. It’s simple but with enough detail at the neckline to stand out. The chiffon makes the dress light and easy to walk around in.  Even if she’s not taking part in a special event, she can still wear this dress as a casual outfit.

Ever since I started working at Pink Princes my favorite style has been D1120, which is the Dotted Two Tone Shantung dress in pretty much every color. I like how it has enough detail at the top and a simple solid skirt. The rosebud at the waist gives it that extra dressed up look. I noticed parents tend to order the Red or Burgundy more in the Christmas season, but all the other 6 colors, Coral, Champagne, Lilac, Navy Blue, Olive and Pink are just as pretty for Easter, a Flower Girl, or as a special birthday dress.

With Communion time just around the corner, a lot of mothers are trying to find that perfect dress for their little princess to wear on this important day. Not only does it have to be affordable and appropriate to the moms.  It also has to be comfortable and beautiful enough for their daughter to wear.   And let’s be honest, a mother/daughter agreeing on the same fashion taste may not always be the easiest thing to do.   Especially since majority of churches have their own dress code guidelines.

I went to private school my whole life, and had a set uniform. When it came down to making my First Communion I was so excited because I thought I’d finally be able to wear something I like.  That wasn’t the case.  I was making it in the summer, June to be exact. For those of you who live in California, you know how hot it can get during that time. Unfortunately for the girls making it along with me, we were told we were not allowed to wear spaghetti strap, nor sleeveless dresses.  So there I was, in a long sleeve (with shoulder pads), pantyhose so that the crinoline wouldn’t itch my legs, poufy dress in the middle of June in 90 plus degree weather. It wasn’t exactly what I had pictured my special day to be.  I remember getting home from church and changing.

Young girls have many options now a days and churches are being reasonable and allowing girls to wear spaghetti strap dresses BUT with a shawl or bolero for the Mass part, which is understandable. They can pick from tea length to ankle length, sequins or embroidered, sleeveless or cap sleeved.  Majority of the Communion Dresses come with crinoline followed by smooth material that touches the leg instead of having to deal with the scratchy material on the legs.  It’s the detail on the dress that I think makes it stand out.  You can get a simple A-Line dress with just enough detail on the bodice to make it stand out like our style LSP947-WT.  Or go for a more extravagant look with our D3130-WT that has embroidery all around the dress.  If you really want your daughter to shine all night, then you’ll defiantly like our LSP927-WT which has rhinestone detail on the bodice.

With so many selections in Communion Dresses that we offer, we’re sure coming to an agreement on what you like and what your daughter wants, won’t be a hassle.

Who said pettiskirts were only made to wear under a dress? Now a days it looks like a hot trend is wearing a pettiskirt as a fun every day wear skirt. Not only are they fun and colorful but very practical. They come in various colors and you can dress it up or down. They’re not just for infants or toddlers. Young woman are wearing them under Homecoming dresses for extra volume and a more colorful look.

I have to admit when I first saw them, I wasn’t THE biggest fan. Once you see them on and with the right flower girl accessories, they don’t look bad. I’ve seen girls wear them with black tights and heels and it looks fun and comfortable.  Toddlers look adorable in them. It’s an every day “princess outfit” for them.  They’re great for dressing up a regular t-shirt or to wear and twirl in for ballet class.

They’re fun, easy to maintain, and practical. There’s no need to take it to the dry cleaners or go thru the hassle of ironing it. They’re hand washable and the more crinkled it gets, the fuller it looks. Majority come based on age so you don’t have to worry about taking any type of measurements, and with an elastic waist, they’ll have enough room to grow into. They’re mainly made of floating chiffon and ruffles that go on forever. Some of them even come with a ribbon at the waist for extra detail.  They come in various colors and styles. They even have a full body petticoat dress like our style SP554, just in case you can’t find a shirt, this one already has it attached to the skirt.

Many brides are starting to use them as flower girl dresses because there’s no need to add a petticoat like you would to a “regular” flower girl dress. They’re easier to mix and match with the bridal parties colors, or you can get one with petals already inside the skirt, like our style SP110 on pinkprincess.com.

They make great gifts for girls of all ages or for your own princess to wear in any occasion. You’re sure to find the color/colors you’re looking for. Pettiskirts are all about having fun, and with 40 yards of fluffy chiffon, you can be assured you’re princess will have the time of her life twirling and playing in hers.

It’s bad enough having to find the “perfect” dress for your princess to wear on her special day, having to find the right accessories can be just as hard. There are so many options to pick from now a day. Head bows, hair clips, head wreaths, and tiaras are the entire perfect accessory for any Pink Princess dress.

Traditionally, most girls wear headpieces with a veil attached for their First Communions, however, now days it seems that Moms are opting to go with hair wreaths with floral designs on it so that the dress is what captures the eye more than anything.Hair clips or hair bows are perfect to dress up any every day outfit for little girls. Not to mention that they can in every color and size, you’re sure to find the perfect match for an outfit.

Brides like to add a special touch by having their flower girls wear matching head accessory as well. This can vary from a head wreath to a hair clip depending on how much detail is on the dress.

A new type of head accessory is the bun wreath. It’s similar to a head wreath, but not quite as big. They can be anywhere from 3” to 8” big in diameter. They are perfect for a simple up do and don’t have to worry about it falling on a little girls face. These as well come in different colors and different floral patterns. It’s just a matter of deciding which one is perfect for your little princess.

During these hard economical times, we’re all looking for ways to save a little bit more money by cutting some ends. Planning a wedding is no exception.  While it may seem some places are raising their prices, at Pink Princess we’re cutting back prices and putting them in our “SALE” section of the web site, as well as offering free shipping AND free returns.

For other items, that seems to get costly after awhile, like headpieces, why not get creative and make your own? Most arts and crafts store have a standard head band that you can just glue colored plastic flowers of your choice. Or just get little girls plain headband, and wrap a colored ribbon on that as well. It’s fun, easy, and affordable.

To save even more money on shipping, it’s best to order more than one item at a time.  Most places now offer free Ground shipping when you order over a certain amount. Even if you don’t need one of the items until a later date, you’re assured you’ll have it in your hands by the time the event comes around.

There’s nothing wrong with hand-me-downs to save a little bit more money.  What’s the point of having a dress, worn once, and just hanging in the closet? Selling it at a yard sell, or someone else, is a great way to get rid of dresses no longer being worn, and gives you back some of the money you spent.  The other person can even get creative and add things onto it, or remove things from the dress, and make it look like a whole new dress.

It’s all about trying to save the most out of your money this year. By cutting a few unnecessary expenses and getting creative on the little things, you’ll be able to see the savings in your bank account without having to pinch your wallet.
